We are extremely proud to announce we have a received a Silver Award in The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
The MOD’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) is a nationally recognised scheme encouraging all employers to support defence services and inspire others to do the same. The prestigious award asks organisations to pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
We are proud to be a British company and proud of the service we provide for our customers, which is why, as we grow our operations, we are always looking for staff who share and uphold our values.
Over the years we have come to realise that amongst the employees who often best exemplify what we stand for are those who understand the value of service and of loyalty – the former members of the country’s Armed Forces.
This is why we have pledged to actively recruit ex-service personnel and members of the reserve forces. This pledge is enshrined in our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and reflected in the pride we have to have been awarded the Silver Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in return for that commitment.
We have earned this accolade by introducing a host of new measures, including offering an extra fifteen days paid leave for any employees who might be called away with the Territorial Army or the UK’s other reserve forces.
We also advertise ourselves as a pro-military veteran employer with links on every employees signature block and open support via our social media channels. We also offer a free counselling service to ex-military staff who might be suffering from anxiety or need advice on overcoming other life or career issues.
But our work in this area is not done, and we are now actively seeking to go one better by earning our gold standard – our commitment to supporting those who have served their country and are now seeking a stable career back in Civvy Street.
Our Group Chairman Malcom Prentice said: “Every November, the country rightly gathers around memorials to pay tribute to our Armed Forces but at MTMS we recognise that our servicemen and women put their lives on the line to protect us 365 days of the year.
“It’s only right that we repay that by offering them the opportunities they deserve when they leave or, if they are a reservist, the extra support they need to fulfil their duty.
“In return we have benefitted greatly from the former service personnel that we have employed. They leave the forces with excellent qualifications and plenty of transferrable skills, and they’ve got a really good work ethic too.”
